i was OMG, TTYL - but then she was like LOL

my lolla run-down, it was like OM-F'in-G, WTF!

rodrigo y gabriela - mexican guitar duo, all instrumental, oooh so good even though the words are missing
snow patrol - you've probably already heard of them, "if i lay here...blah blah blah" but their old stuff is amazeeeee and they were great live
M.I.A - great live, even though she lost her voice half-way through. dut dut dut on your mobile phone!
peter bjorn & john - good show for the 30 minutes they played - the power went out for a while, technical difficulties maaaaan, go ahead, whistle to yourself until the song comes on again...
pete yorn - not to be confused with PB&J, he was awesome live for a one-man-show and looks like one of the royal tenenbaums
the rapture - i likeeeee, 80s rock with a punch of 'the sounds' sound
blonde redhead - caught the tailend of the show, but what i heard i liked. think girl with great voice and a couple of 40 yr old hippies playing in the background

bad live shows & disappointments:

wino - amy winehouse - low energy...WTF i was like OMG. saw her once before in a smaller venue and enjoyed it, but i think she should perform some more covers if her original shit is so jazz clubby...(should have gone to see lupe fiasco instead, damn)

modest mouse - i really like them and thought the show would be hype, but man was it like a smoke sess with music in the background playing that happened to be singing "...and we'll all float on, OK!" and after that song, people left to make it to Pearl Jam...which also was...

A BUST! - the headliner, Pearl Jam talked more about BP and the war than threw down. also, the show wasn't loud enough and all i could hear was some drunk PJ-4-LIFE fans rendition of every single song they sang. it was hard to hear Eddie's voice through the drunken yellow ledbetter slurs. they could have sang all of their songs, instead they wasted time singing and preaching about anti-war, BP, Bush, loveessssssss it, OMG, TTYL EDDIE VEDDER!
lolla '07 over...better lineup next year Perry?

not at lolla, but should have been:

and the reason i am writing in all IM catch phrases is b/c after watching MTV for maybe about 30 minutes last night (yes, i was watching all the Hills hype), i got attached to this new band that was playing inbetween the show - TEAM FACELIFT <--(click for their official site) they're hilarious, white rappers with NO shame! love it and love their song - "i wanna have your baby"(really called "no love") watch the vid here besides rapping during the hills promos, they also did a few hills commercials. wish i could get a hold of them on youtube, but no one has posted yet. here's the jist of it (as most MTV promos for their shows or station, this is a must-see):
"So who do you think has more drama? Heidi and Spencer or Heidi and Lauren?"
"Well I talked to Lauren and I was like, OMG, and she was like TTYL, but really I was like LOL."

talk in IM catch phrases, it's insane.

and my obsession right now - CSS (cansei de ser sexy), the brazilian pop band that was suppose to be at lolla but had airline issues. go to their myspace to check out their songs - or their official website
(be sure to listen to: "music is my hot, hot sex")

I can't even begin to express my excitement at this post. I LOVE those old MTV promos, and to this day will randomly type them into google, hoping that someone has posted the video. It has been a long standing inside joke between a friend and I, and I have the phrase written down at work, just to make me smile. "I saw Lauren and I was like, OMG, TTYL. And she was like, ROFL. And I was like, I'd rather LOL". I hope you find the video!
